It’s no doubt that St. Jerome’s Residence continues to be a top choice for students across all six faculties at the University of Waterloo. In a recent Maclean’s article titled “An insider’s guide to the best place to live, campus food and more,” student Nicola Rose identifies St. Jerome’s Residence as the ‘best place to live’ and the Funcken Café as having the ‘best campus food.”

St. Jerome’s residence is the most centrally located residence building at the University of Waterloo -just steps from Student Health Services, and directly across from the Student Life Centre. St. Jerome’s is Waterloo’s only residence to feature an exclusive gymnasium and fitness space. Laundry is also on site, which is included in students’ residence fees. Both single and double room options are available, and each room comes equipped with its own sink (vanity) and mirror.

If its not the modern and spacious facilities that draw students to live at St. Jerome’s each year, it’s certainly the vibrant sense of community. Leadership positions at St. Jerome’s (within residence and beyond) surpass the industry standard per capita, giving students plenty of ways to develop their soft skills outside of the classroom. Being immersed in a diverse, supportive, and strategically small community like St. Jerome’s, gives Waterloo students a living experience unlike any other.

As for the ‘best campus food,’ Nicola sure has it right. Residents at St. Jerome’s enjoy fresh, sustainable and locally sourced dishes from talented chefs, and all-you-can eat style dining. The Funcken Café is a one-stop-shop for fresh baked goods, ethically sourced coffee, and grab-and-go lunch items for students on the move. In addition to being a convenient spot to grab a bite to eat, the Café offers a cozy and welcoming oasis to study, work and hang out.
