Residence Meal Plan
At St. Jerome’s University, your full all-inclusive meal plan includes up to 19 meals a week to ensure you unlimited eating for the entire school year. That means that whether you are a hearty eater or prefer light choices, you will find plenty to fill your plate at every meal and you don’t have to worry about keeping track of a declining balance or trips to the grocery store.

The mouth-watering made-from-scratch selections make the Community Centre among the most popular gathering places on campus. We provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks Monday through Friday; brunch and dinner on the weekends.

Outstanding food, great selection and amazing service are what our students can expect every day. Our points of service provide…

  • Breakfast – Farm fresh Ontario eggs and specials custom made at the grill
  • Hot Bowls – All soups are made from scratch daily
  • Fresh Local Salad Bar – Wholesome, sustainable, variety of fresh, seasonal ingredients
  • Hot Table – Chef’s daily creations of your favourite foods
  • Too Good to Ignore Desserts – Cookies, cakes, pies, squares, parfaits, fresh fruit salads
  • Food Fare – Sautéed favourites made fresh to order

The Buttery

Need a snack? Cramming for exams and don’t want to leave your comfort zone? The Buttery, offered to SJU residence students, is a mentor monitored, self-service outlet.  Our self-serve Buttery is open in the evenings (Monday to Thursday) between 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. during the Fall and Winter terms. Students are encouraged to drop by with floor-mates and enjoy a nutritious snack, pick up a late dinner, and get involved in the interactive cooking activities.
Dietary Restrictions and Accommodations
The rotating, daily menus in our all-you-care-to-eat meal plan are built with top allergens and dietary preferences in mind.  Most dishes include gluten-free and vegan options, and menus are posted with allergen information available.  We also have a dedicated gluten-free section with a toaster for bread and bagels.

The food service staff receive food-safe handling training and know the importance of food safety and preventing cross-contamination.  If you have food allergies or serious dietary concerns, please self-identify with our residence team and our food service team so we can work with you to determine safe dining options.

While we work hard to ensure students’ diets are accommodated, SJU does not have certified allergen-free facilities. We make every reasonable effort to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of exposure but the potential for cross-contamination remains.  We encourage you to speak with a chef or manager about safe dining options and ingredients or if you require special preparation for a meal.  Please note that students with dietary restrictions may have fewer options available to them or may need to make a special request for an item during mealtimes.

During the residence application process, students with food allergies and other dietary needs are encouraged to speak with the Residence team in advance of accepting a residence contract to ensure the format of the meal plan suits their needs.  We will work with you to find housing on campus that best accommodates dietary requirements.
