The Word From Rome: The Next Pope and the Future of the Church

Distinguished Vatican correspondent John L. Allen Jr. will draw on his daily coverage of the Vatican, including interviews with dozens of members of the College of Cardinals, to provide informed insights into the possible successor to John Paul II and to reflect on the future of the Catholic Church under the leadership of the next Vatican administration. Allen will also outline the issues that will drive the election of the next pope and handicap the leading candidates. As part of the Somerville Lecture sponsored by the Catholic Register, Allen will deliver the same lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 at the Newman Centre Chapel, University of Toronto, 89 St. George Street, Toronto.
