whereas the study of politics should be scientific, its practice is not susceptible to the rationality of the scientific method. Society presents complex challenges which defy rational control conceived after the natural sciences; they demand wisdom and moral courage. Contrary to notions underlying contemporary Canadian political discourse, politics is not a science, it is an art, the art of living together in peace and harmony as we are commanded to doas Christians. This lecture will address politics as art from a Christian perspective. |
