"How do we live faithful lives?" Christians often deal with this difficult question by relinquishing their responsibility to make decisions, take stands, act with integrity. They leave the responsibility for these difficult issues of living to God alone. The challenge has always been to realize that god’s incarnational presence respects the integrity of the gift of freedom. How can individuals surrender their will to God while retaining the freedom to live passionate, engaged lives?
Fr. Gregory HJumbert
A graduate of St. Jerome’s College and recipient of the 1993 Father Norm Choate, D.R. Distinguished Graduate Award, Fr. Humbert is the pastor of St. Alphonsus Parish in Callander, Ontario. He has been a priest for the past eighteen years, and holds an MDiv. from the University of Western Ontario. He is the founder and manager of the singing group, The Hidden talents, a troupe of performing priests of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie. From 1982 to 1988, he serve as the Executive Director of the Mbita Medial Fund, A Third World outreach fundraising organization. In addition to being actively involved as a leader of various programmes for youth, he has also been the Director of Northern Ontario Creative Arts Guild since 1987. He is the author of three books, including a book of poetry, "Empty Nests, Broken Eggshells".
