Food is physical, a relentless bodily need and an ephermeral pleasure. Margaret Visser
Margaret Visser was born in South Africa and brought up in Zambia. She has her Doctorate in Classics from the University of Toronto, with specialization in ancient Greek drama, mythology and religion. She contributes programmes to CBC Radio’s Morningside and The Arts Tonight; other radio shows include Ideas, Open House, Radio Noon, many more in the United States and Canada and the BBC’s Women’s Hour and The Food Show in Britain. She has appeared on such television programmes as CTV’s Lifetime, Canada AM, CBC’s The Journal and TVO in both French and English. Her best-selling and award-winning book, "Much Depends on Dinner", on the history and mythology of table manners, appeared in May 1991 in Canada and the U.S. A best-seller, it also wond several international awards.
