William Shannon is the author of the well-received “Thomas Merton’s Dark Path: The Inner Experience of a Contemplative”and is the editor of Merton’s voluminous correspondence for publicaiton. Dr. Shannon is a Catholic priest and a member of the Department of Religious Studies, Nazareth College, Rochester, N.Y.
