Due to unforeseen circumstances, the April 22nd Lectures in Catholic Experience event with Dr. Jose Pereira has been rescheduled. The lecture will take place as part of the upcoming 2022-2023 series. Details will be posted when confirmed.
About the Lecture
In the early 1990s, Dr. Jose Pereira encountered a patient who asked for relief from severe pain caused by his incurable cancer. That encounter led Dr. Pereira to embark on a career in palliative care and later inspired him to co-found Pallium Canada, which trains health care professionals in palliative care. Through workshops, web sites, pocketbooks, and apps, Pallium has trained thousands of Canadian health care workers. Its reach is international. Despite these successes, Dr. Pereira argues, there remain serious gaps in our patchwork system–gaps that leave too many Canadians without access to palliative care. In this lecture, Dr. Pereira discusses how we might end the cost of this neglect.
