Living in residence is an experience unlike any other. At St. Jerome’s we go above and beyond to make your residence experience the best it can possibly be. With the community that exists here, the events you can take part in, the friends that you’ll make, and so much more, there are too many reasons why you should live in residence to list them all here. So instead I’ll just list the Top 8.

 

In residence, you get to experience what it’s like to live on your own for (maybe) the first time in your life! You have the freedom to decide how you want to live and what you want to do! It can be an exciting time full of new responsibilities and opportunities!

Don’t worry though! Although you’ll be living on your own, you’ll be surrounded by people who are there to guide you through this new experience and help you with anything you need, including the Residence Dons, SJU staff, and other student leaders!

While in residence you get to meet new people, form new friendships, and live alongside 359 of your closest friends. At St. Jerome’s you’re surrounded by people who share the same interests as you, introduce you to new experiences and interests, and who genuinely care about you and want you to succeed. The community that exists here is unlike any other.

SJU is located right at the heart of the UWaterloo campus, meaning that even if you sleep through all of your alarms, you can just do a fast walk and still make it to your classes on time. You couldn’t have a better commute.

There’s never a dull moment at SJU! Between the weekly events run by our Student Activities Team, Student’s Union, Student Campus Ministry, Peer Academic Leaders, and other student groups; our service learning opportunities that you have the chance to participate in; and any floor events that your floor organizes; there’s always something going on!

With the fresh food that we have every day that is made from scratch, using only local ingredients, you’ll truly have some of the best food available on campus. As a resident, you’ll have a fully unlimited meal plan, and you won’t ever have to worry about paying for or cooking your meals. Plus all of our meals are served by our outstanding food service staff who are some of the friendliest faces you’ll see every day.

 

As a resident, you have access to all of the amenities we have to offer, including our gymnasium, workout room, study areas, creative space, music room, lounge, games room, pantry, spacious residence rooms, and more. Our 360-bed residence was designed with the student experience in mind, and it’s reflected in all of our residence spaces!

In residence you’ll truly find your home-away-from-home! The people here will become your family and even when you leave residence you’ll always be part of the community.
