Demonstrate Your Support this Holiday!
After eighteen months of operating virtually, this September marked the return of students to the St. Jerome’s University campus. I find myself particularly grateful to hear students chatting in the Fireside Lounge, or to see them walking to class from residence with a new friend. These are things which, pre-COVID, I took for granted. Our campus is once again alive. With our anticipated return to normal levels of operation in January, we expect it to be even more bustling with activity!
While are students have endured the realities of virtual learning and student life, we know that our students come to St. Jerome’s to learn and be inspired in person. Our faculty and staff take a hands-on approach to guiding and helping to support them. The return to campus means re-engaging our students in opportunities that were not available over the past two academic years, including practicum and co-op placements, as well as the important formational aspects of service and experiential learning. At the same time, the return of our students to campus represents new opportunities for them to engage with key initiatives: ones that will be fundamental to the future of St. Jerome’s University – including the development of our next Strategic Plan, and our responses to the challenges of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization on our campus.
The fact that St. Jerome’s is a Catholic university is an important part of our mission and identity. The value of a Catholic liberal arts education is embodied in our commitment to developing our students as whole people. Graduates with the intellectual and human formation needed to make them into the leaders of tomorrow who will act with conviction, conscience, and a commitment to the common good. I am confident that you share my conviction that this work is vitally important. Also important is how we will be a Catholic university in the modern world – serving the needs of all students, regardless of their background or creed.
Thank you for considering how you can of the St. Jerome’s University mission, and its commitment to educating and forming the leaders of tomorrow. Your financial contribution to our University is an important way to ensure the success of our students’ educational journey.
Gratefully,
Dr. Peter Meehan
President and Vice Chancellor
