Evening Liturgies Offered Online during Holy Week
St. Jerome’s University’s Campus Ministry team welcomes the community to join them online for Holy Week liturgies. As a Catholic university, St. Jerome’s University annually honours Holy Week - the Christian observance commemorating the Passion of Jesus Christ, which takes place between Palm Sunday and Easter. Given the pandemic circumstances, on campus services in the university’s Notre Dame Chapel are not possible this year, but will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom throughout the week.
“We are pleased to be offering liturgy to our community in this way,” noted Director, Campus Ministry Sean Hayes. “Holy Week is a sacred time for Christians. We wanted to ensure that we acknowledge and commemorate these important events in the Church. We hope these simple rituals will engage all who participate, Christians and non-Christian who gather, to enter into the spirit and solemnity of the evenings.”
Services are scheduled to take place online on Palm Sunday (March 28), Holy Thursday (April 1), Good Friday (April 2), and Easter Vigil (April 3). Each liturgy will be about 45 minutes (with the exception of Easter Vigil which will be approximately an hour). Zoom links will be available in a special Holy Week bulletin sent out to those who enquire.
