Admissions
Meet Jamie!
05 Mar, 2020

Hi Blog Readers!

In an expansion of our graduating student posts series, we will be taking a look at other members and groups that are a part of the St. Jerome’s community. This will begin by looking at members of the Student Affairs team. The Student Affairs team helps students with all aspects of their academic career, from residence to academic support and wellness counseling.

To begin looking at the members of the St. Jerome’s student affairs team, Jamie Hall the Residence Life Coordinator at St. Jerome’s, will be interviewed. Jamie has been apart of the St. Jerome’s community for eight months within his role.

Please describe your role and position at St. Jerome's University

Here at St. Jerome's, I hold the position of Residence Life Coordinator. In this role, I am responsible for supporting students and student leaders living in residence. I absolutely love this role because I believe a student's residence experience can be one of the most transformative experiences they'll have in their life. I am incredibly lucky to get to work with 12 upper-year student leaders (Dons) who dedicate so much time and effort into providing their students with the best experience possible.

What is your favourite St. Jerome's Memory?

My favourite SJ memory is definitely day one of our Don/Student Activities August training program. From the moment I got to know the teams I would be working with this year, I knew that I was in for a great experience. The student leaders at St. Jerome's are so passionate about their roles, and the community has benefited tremendously from them.

What advice would you give to a first-year student who is coming to St. Jerome's in the fall?

Put yourself out there - whatever that means to you. There are so many opportunities to get involved and connected with this community, and doing so will introduce you to so many wonderful people and opportunities that St. Jerome's has to offer. There are so many opportunities to learn and grow both inside and outside of the classroom - take advantage of them! There's something for everyone!

What advice do you have for graduating students as they finish up their degrees?

Don't panic! I've been in your shoes before - I know that graduating and trying to figure out what comes next can be extremely daunting. It's important to remember however that getting a degree is hard work. It takes resiliency, determination, and passion. These are the same qualities that will help you find what's best for you moving forward. You're going to do amazing things and it's 100% okay if you don't know what those things are yet.
