The Mathematics Department at St. Jerome's University focuses on undergraduate education in mathematics and computer science. Small classes and a commitment to teaching offer students the opportunity to learn in a motivating and caring environment. Instructors are approachable and always willing to help with course material and provide advice.
First and second year students normally enroll in their core mathematics and computer science courses at St. Jerome's University and select their electives from within St. Jerome's University or the University of Waterloo. Students closer to graduation are encouraged to keep their ties with St. Jerome's by enrolling in upper year St. Jerome's offerings in statistics, applied mathematics, and combinatorics and optimization.
Research interests within the department include the study of quantum computer algorithms, classical general relativity, biostatistics, combinatorial designs and the mathematics forming the foundation of secure cryptography.
