The Reading Series at St. Jerome's is proud to present the first reading of the New Year:
AUSTIN CLARKE
Friday 5 February, Siegfried Hall, St. Jerome's
Author of More, winner of the 2009 Toronto Book Award
Author of The Polished Hoe, winner of the 2002 Giller Prize, Trillium Award, and Commonwealth Writer's Prize
The jury for the Toronto Book Award described More as:
"a vivid and powerful portrait of a black woman's four-day journey as she relives her life in Canada as an immigrant from the West Indies. Her enduring sorrow balanced by hard work and short bouts of gaiety and joy ensure her presence as a memorable and powerful figure in Canadian literature."
Hope to see you there!
The reading is FREE and all are welcome.
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts
