Mastering the Art of Scholarly Achievements
I have the great pleasure of sharing with you the scholarship
accomplishments of our SJU professors for the 2011–2012
academic year. A listing of these accomplishments is found
in the Scholarly Achievements brochure. Our professors are both talented
teachers and active scholars contributing to the advancement
of their academic disciplines, government policy and community
education. Scholarship requires dedicated time for reading,
reflection on the writings and ideas of other scholars, competing
for grants to support research costs, observing human behaviour,
and sharing new insights through publications in scholarly journals
and books, consultation with government and presentations to
scholarly and community groups. I hope that you will take a
moment to read the brochure and share our pride in the accomplishments
of SJU professors.

This event benefits students and our partner organizations who enable us to deliver our annual service learning initiative in Peru.
This year, 11 students will be traveling to Peru in June to work with a variety of community-based organizations—namely a group of rural female coffee growers who produce the fair trade coffee brand Café Feminino, sold at SJU food service outlets and through the Campus Ministry Social Justice Committee.
The event will take place:
Sunday May 13, 2012 at 10:30AM
D.R. Letson Community Centre
Tickets must be purchased by Monday May 7, 2012 by contacting me (glombard@uwaterloo.ca or x28227)
Adults $25 per ticket; Children under 12 pay $10
Last year, the event raised enough money to help our partners build 3 rain-water harvesting cisterns for crop irrigation.
